Court Administrator


The Court Administrator is part of a small team of professionals tasked with completing and managing court cases, in a timely manner, for Municipal Court. This position often has an uneven workload throughout the week. Court is held every Tuesday morning, and Juvenile Court is held every other Tuesday afternoon. Those days, depending on the docket, are likely to require the Court Administrator's full attention. On other days, this position will act primarily as the Court Administrator and assist the Finance office when not engaged in court activities. This position is under the general direction of the Finance Director.


Controls and approves court expenditures; prepares purchase orders and approving request for supplies; ensures that expenditures do not exceed budgeted amounts for the year; prepares annual budget by reviewing and analyzing expenditures for current and past years to ensure that sufficient funds are available for court needs; acts as CCIC Coordinator; responsible for acquiring and managing the information technology resources necessary to affect court operations; maintains records; files, assembles, tracks, and updates summonses; assists customers, answers telephones; checks in defendants, witnesses, jurors, interpreters, and defense attorneys; schedules interpreters, court appointed attorneys, and jury trials; coordinates arraignments; sequesters witnesses and jurors and acts as Bailiff during jury trials; distributes forms regarding court appearances; routes files; prepares dockets; queries and enters records in case management software; schedules court appearances; explains paperwork to defendants; maintains files; prepares courtroom; assists with security when removing unruly individuals and helps to maintain order; assists in monitoring of prisoners; assists in confirmation and coordination of arrests for defendants with warrants; during emergencies, instructs and ensures evacuation of court; confirms community service hours; enters parking tickets into case management software, maintains files, and sends out late notices as necessary; takes payments; drafts letters; processes cash and surety bonds, forfeits bonds; queries Colorado Crime Information Center (CBI); performs data exchange with the Department of Motor Vehicles; sends juror notifications; enters bench warrants into CCIC; assists with coordination of prisoner transports; provides releasable information to parties; enters real time disposition and sentencing information; operates digital recording system; performs other duties as assigned. The responsibilities for the Finance Department may include some or all of the following, as time permits: accepting utility payments over the phone and in-person, proof reading and double checking outgoing correspondence, performing research on projects, other duties as assigned to support the team.


Requires a high school diploma or GED certification; college preferred. Must have CCIC clearance or ability to apply and receive clearance. Knowledge of basic business methods and procedures, including accounting, Windows, MS Office Suite. Frequent and lengthy use of a computer is required. Ability to use standard office equipment efficiently. Experience in legal and/or court environment preferred. Ability to observe confidentiality requirements necessary and good written and verbal communication skills a must.
